Hosting a vending machine: what you should know.
Thinking about having a snack or drink vending machine installed on your premises? Here’s a brief overview of what matters – from space and power to the process, contract and costs.
Space and power
A vending machine doesn’t need much. These four things should be in place:
- Power: a standard power socket (230 V) close to where the machine will stand.
- Floor space: about 1 × 1 m.
- Placement: indoors or outdoors – outdoor installation is possible, too.
- Access: we come by regularly to restock and maintain the machine – so we need access to it.
Ideally, the machine stands somewhere clearly visible and easy for your visitors to reach. We clarify everything else together on site. More on the technology: Our vending machines.
Which location works?
A vending machine works anywhere people work, train, park, celebrate or wait – and get thirsty or peckish in between. Typical locations are offices and companies, gyms and fitness studios, garages and car parks, event venues, public facilities and apartment buildings and hotels.
What matters is how many people pass by. That’s why the location check asks for a rough figure: under 50, 50–150, 150–500 or over 500 people per day. During the site assessment, we check the location, footfall and technical setup on site.
We install machines in Vienna and Lower Austria.
Process and timing
From the first contact to a machine that’s up and running, there are six steps:
- Contact: location check, call or email – you reach the founders directly. We reply to enquiries from location partners within 24 h.
- Site assessment: we check on site whether your space is suitable – free and with no obligation.
- Consultation: we present a concept for your location: machine, product range and model.
- Contract: we discuss the terms in person and agree the contract term individually.
- Installation: your machine is in place 1–2 weeks after the contract is signed.
- Full service: restocking, maintenance, deposit and reports – on an ongoing basis.
Costs
There are no costs to you for the machine, installation, restocking or maintenance. Electricity is agreed individually for each location.
The on-site assessment is also free, with no obligation.
How you earn
As a location partner, you earn from your machine – through one of two models:
- Share of sales: you receive a share of every sale – ideal for high footfall.
- Fixed rent: a predictable amount every month, regardless of sales.
Which model suits you better depends on your location. We discuss the terms in person. Regular performance reports show you how your machine is doing.
Contract and term
We agree the contract term with you individually. Notice is given in writing, three months before the end of the term.
Product range
Our machines offer soft drinks, energy drinks, water & iced tea, crisps & snacks and sweets. We tailor the range to your location and discuss it with you during the consultation – so you have a say. More in our products section.
We also install coffee machines at location partners’ sites, with full service: Coffee machines.
Deposit and recycling
Our vending machines are ready for the Austrian single-use deposit scheme. We comply with the Austrian deposit rules and take care of recycling. More: Bottle deposit.
Operation, maintenance, damage
We take care of restocking, maintenance and repairs. Your machine is monitored smartly, so we can see in real time when restocking or a service is due – around the clock. Damage, including vandalism, is covered by our insurance.
Your visitors pay by cash, card or phone – depending on the machine. If they have a question or something isn’t working, they can reach us around the clock on +43 678 791 88 70.
Checklist for the location check
For the location check, a few details are enough:
- the address or postcode of the space
- the type of location, for example an office, a gym or a garage
- roughly how many people pass by each day
- where exactly the machine could stand
- your name and email address – a phone number is welcome, too
We’ll discuss the rest in person. Any other questions? You’ll find the most common answers in our FAQ, and feedback from our partners under References.
